When first starting the homeschool journey, you may feel overwhelmed with abbreviations. Below is a list of abbreviations that you may come across, if you come across some not mentioned, please let me know.

Common Homeschooling Abbreviations
AWANA -- Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (Children’s Bible Study Program)
CM -- Charlotte Mason
CPI -- Competent Private Instruction ("Competent private instruction" means private instruction provided on a daily basis for at least one hundred forty-eight days during a school year, to be met by attendance for at least thirty-seven days each school quarter, by or under the supervision of a licensed practitioner in the manner. The CPI category includes home schooled children who are not enrolled in independent private instruction and those in non-accredited nonpublic "schools.")
CS -- Christian school
HS -- Homeschool or high school
HSAP -- Home School Assistance Programs
HSLDA -- Home School Legal Defense Association
IG -- Instructor's Guide
IPI -- Independent Private Instruction (Private instruction means instruction using a plan and a course of study in a setting other than a public or organized accredited nonpublic school.)
LA -- Language Arts
OOP -- Out of Print
PS -- Public School
RA -- Read-Aloud
TE -- Teacher's Edition
TM -- Teacher's Manual
US -- Unit Studies
